I’ve spent 28 years in the intellectual property world, and honestly, I still love what I do. As a patent paralegal, I’ve had the privilege of working across the full spectrum of patent prosecution from navigating USPTO filing procedures and managing complex prosecution timelines supporting attorneys through every stage of the patent lifecycle. Over nearly three decades, I’ve developed a deep fluency in the tools and processes that keep a patent practice, document management, but what I’m most proud of is the institutional knowledge I’ve built and the people I’ve helped along the way. I believe that a great paralegal doesn’t just execute tasks; they anticipate problems, protect the client, and make the whole team sharper. My experience spans the technical and the human side of IP practice from the granular details of USPTO requirements to mentoring newer team members and contributing to firm operations at a strategic level. I’ve seen this field evolve enormously, and I’m still as curious about where it’s going as I was on day one. I’m here today because I think the paralegal perspective is one of the most valuable and underrepresented voices in IP conversations, and I’m glad to be part of changing that.
