The Mission of the Membership Committee is to build, support, and maintain AIPLA membership.

The Membership Committee's goals include:

  • Building a high retention rate by engaging current members to understand the drivers of member “stickiness” and attrition.
  • Creating and supporting programs and activities for attracting new members to AIPLA.  

Activities of the Membership Committee include:

  • Reviewing membership statistics and trends in membership.
  • Identifying, recommending, establishing and supporting new services, communications and outreach programs to facilitate membership retention.
  • Providing resources to current members and committees for attracting and retaining members.
  • Identifying sources for new members, and recommending and establishing outreach programs for attracting new members.  

Membership Committee activities are implemented by the following subcommittees:

  • Data Acquisition and Analytics (DAA) SubcommitteeLeadership: Lucy Samuels, Bree Vculek 
    • The Mission of the DAA Subcommittee is to gather and analyze membership trends and statistics to identify drivers of member “stickiness” and attrition. This subcommittee may work with other committees, such as the Law Practice Management Committee (responsible for the AIPLA Economic Survey), to gather and analyze data.
  • Prospective Member Outreach (PMO) SubcommitteeLeadership: Hayley Talbert, Mary Hannon, Angelica Andreoli, John Salazar, Jocelyn Ram
    • The Mission of the PMO Subcommittee is to identify sources for new members, and recommend and establish outreach programs for attracting new members. This subcommittee may work with other committees, such as the Corporate Practice Committee, to help build and organize programs led by other committees.
  • New Member Outreach (NMO) SubcommitteeLeadership: Carol Thorstad-Forsyth, Sam Eichner, Nick Camillo, Stephanie Bald, Raph Samost
    • The Mission of the NMO Subcommittee is to connect with new members soon after they join to ensure they have the resources they need to be successful AIPLA members. This subcommittee may work with other committees, such as the Mentoring Committee and New Lawyers Committee, to help connect new members to resources and networking opportunities.
  • Membership Resource (MR) Subcommittee Leadership: Letao Qin
    • The Mission of the MR Subcommittee is to create, collect, and organize resources for the Membership Committee, at large, and the other subcommittees to ensure that they can fulfill their respective missions. This subcommittee will include a Liaison Program with other committees and a Member Promotion Program that provides AIPLA-wide visibility of selected members and facilitate small-group networking opportunities. 
  • Law School Link (LSL) SubcommitteeLeadership: Hayley Talbert, Raph Samost, Bree Vculek, Stephanie Curcio
    • The mission of the LSL Subcommittee is to build and establish the Law School Link Program. This subcommittee will include the liaisons for each LSL member school, and organize the information, communications, and content available for the program. This subcommittee may work with other committees, such as the Mentoring Committee and New Lawyers Committee, to help connect students with mentorship and networking opportunities.
