Bio

Judy Yee is an Assistant General Counsel in Microsoft’s IP Group where she is responsible for leading a team of attorneys and patent professionals that provide IP support to Microsoft’s Cloud and AI business, including patent portfolio development, dispute resolution, M&A transactions, IP licensing, strategic partnerships and standards activities.  She joined Microsoft in 2011 and, until recently, led Patent Engineering and was responsible for IP licensing. In that role, Ms. Yee oversaw revenue-based and business-value driven IP licensing. She has dedicated more than 15 years of her career to IP law with an emphasis on delivering business value through intellectual property.  She develops robust strategies to create, protect, defend and enforce IP assets with an eye to drive value back to the business.  Ms. Yee holds a BS in computer science from the University of Michigan and a JD from Seattle University. She practiced at Perkins Coie before going in-house and, prior to entering the practice of law, she was a software engineer at Intel Corporation. Ms. Yee is a co-chair of the Pacific Northwest chapter of ChIPs, a global 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation dedicated to advance and connect women in technology, law and policy.
